Genesight testing

More information for a thoughtful medication conversation.

Birchwood offers GeneSight pharmacogenomic testing when it may be useful as one part of your individualized care plan.

What is GeneSight?

GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that looks at how variations in your genes may affect the way your body responds to certain medications. Results may give your clinician additional information when discussing medication options.

Testing is completed with a cheek swab. Jennifer will help determine whether testing may be appropriate, explain the process, and review the results in the context of your full clinical picture.

Important to know

Genetic testing does not diagnose a mental health condition, guarantee that a medication will work, or replace clinical judgment. Medication decisions are always made collaboratively using your history, current symptoms, previous responses, preferences, and other health information.

Coverage and out-of-pocket cost vary. Birchwood can discuss the process with you, and the testing company can provide current billing information before testing.
